Biography

Deborah Flynn is the founder and managing member of Flynn Law Group in Seattle,Washington. Since 1992, Deborah has represented Washington Self-
Insured Employers in workers’ compensation law. Her practice is highly specialized involving a high volume of litigation. She successfully serves a diverse client base including employers from industries including aerospace, airlines, construction, retail, grocery, food production, manufacturing, hospitals, school districts, counties, ports, and cities, to name a few.  

Deborah provides key pre-litigation counseling and claims management advice to employers and their third-party administrators as an aid toward assessing and  reducing case exposure and avoiding litigation where possible.  However, when a case does move to litigation, she jumps right in and successfully represents her clients in cases before the State Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals and Washington State Courts.  She is an aggressive advocate for her clients.  Deborah provides uncompromising loyalty and expert legal services to each of her clients.  She is also frequently requested to provide training at various industry events and in-house seminars for the benefit of self-insured employers, TPAs, and industry groups in Washington and Oregon, and greatly enjoys presenting the latest legal information and responding to the issues that are important to employers.

Prior to founding Flynn Law Group, she was a founding partner of another law firm in business for 18 years engaged in the same practice. Deborah is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, King County Bar Association, Washington Defense Trial Lawyers Association where she served as Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Subcommittee, Washington Self-Insurers Association, Association of Washington Business, and Professionals in Workers’ Compensation.

Community involvement is important to Deborah. She has served on the Boards of Directors of the community food bank, youth football, and little league in various capacities and enjoyed several years as a student mentor for the Issaquah Schools Foundation of the Issaquah School District.

In her personal time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and participating in triathlons, half-marathons, and mud runs.

REPRESENTATIVE DECISIONS                

Taylor v. Nalley’s Fine Foods, 119 Wn. App. 919, 83 P.3d 1018 (2004).  Court reversed summary judgment, finding there was a material issue of fact as to whether a delay in payment of benefits was unreasonable in order to impose a penalty.

In Re: Judith Overby, BIIA Dec. 09 19369 (2011).  Board upheld assessment of costs to be paid by the claimant’s attorney to the employer as reasonable due to untimely discovery responses necessitating discovery status conference and motion to compel.

Jannine MeyersJannine M. Myers

Biography

Jannine Myers is an Associate Attorney with over 19 years of experience in Workers’ Compensation Law, first as a paralegal in California, and since 2007, as an attorney in Washington.  She is a skilled litigator and has successfully resolved a myriad of complex cases before the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals and Superior Courts of Washington.  As an experienced and assertive litigator, Jannine provides strategic, effective counsel with the goal of obtaining the best possible results for her clients in all cases, oftentimes without the necessity of going to trial.

Prior to joining Flynn Law Group, Jannine was an associate attorney at two local firms representing injured workers in workers’ compensation and personal injury matters. In addition, before relocating to Washington, Jannine worked in California as a paralegal for both claimant and employer workers’ compensation firms. Her experience representing claimants gives her invaluable insight that helps her better serve Washington Self Insured Employers.

Jannine is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the California Bar Association, King County Bar Association, Washington Defense Trial Lawyers Association, Washington Self-Insurers Association, Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association of Seattle, and Professionals in Workers’ Compensation.

Jannine and her husband, Andy, have three daughters ages 13, 10 and 5. In her personal time, Jannine enjoys hiking, running, camping, attending Mariner games, baking, and reading historical fiction.

Jannine MeyersKristin D. Teutscher

Biography

Kristin Teutscher is an Associate Attorney with Flynn Law Group.  She brings years of experience working in the litigation arena and an in-depth knowledge of the Industrial Insurance system through several years focusing on Workers' Compensation and disability cases.  She routinely represents employers' interests before the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals and aids in obtaining cost-effective claim resolution.

Kristin has litigated numerous cases in front of the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals and Washington State Superior Court.  Kristin produces great results for her clients through her litigation and counseling skills, and aggressively represents Self-Insured Employers to obtain the best possible results.  Before joining Flynn Law Group, Kristin worked as an attorney focusing on representing injured workers.  Because of her unique perspective as a former Claimant's attorney, Kristin understands the challenges and complexities involved in Workers' Compensation cases and believes strongly in preserving the integrity of the Industrial Insurance system through a proactive and collaborative defense of Washington employers.

Kristin is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and is also admitted to the United States District Court of Western Washington, United States District Court of Eastern Washington, and 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.  She was named a Top Rated Workers' Compensation Lawyer by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2017 and 2018.

Kristin received her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law.  Before coming to the Pacific Northwest for undergraduate school at the University of Puget Sound, Kristin was born and raised in Southern California.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, running half marathons, and relaxing with a good show.

Jannine MeyersNoah A. Winkeller

Biography

Noah Winkeller is an  Associate Attorney who represents Self-Insured Employers in workers' compensation cases. Noah aggressively represents his clients while maintaining a laid-back and even-keeled demeanor. Prior to joining Flynn Law Group, Noah practiced in Massachusetts, first working in-house at an insurance company and then representing injured workers. Noah has handled numerous cases at trial and on appeal, including before the highest state court in Massachusetts. Noah was selected as a Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Star in the workers' compensation field in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

Outside of work, Noah enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters and other friends and family.  He also likes watching his favorite sports teams, the Celtics and Patriots.

Jenica M. Knapp


Biography

Jenica Knapp serves as Senior Paralegal and Office Administrator for Flynn Law Group, LLC. Since 2006, Jenica has been providing high-volume support for attorneys in the field of workers’ compensation defense.  Through this experience, she has come to understand the complexities of workers’ compensation case work, and is dedicated to finding the most efficient and cost-effective means of delivering thorough assistance. Recently, Jenica earned her designation as a Washington Workers’ Compensation Professional. 

As the Office Administrator for Flynn Law Group, LLC, Jenica’s superb organizational skills and results-oriented perspective keep the firm running in top form.  She knows that developing and maintaining clear, fundamental office procedures allows the firm to operate with greater efficiency, effectiveness and higher levels of productivity, which equates to cost savings for our clients. 

Prior to entering the legal field, Jenica studied at Eastern Washington University as an undergraduate, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.  Thereafter, she received a Master's Degree with Presidential Honors (3.9 GPA) in Counseling Psychology from City University in Bellevue, Washington.  This background has provided Jenica with strong analytical abilities and excellent research skills.  Jenica enjoys spending her free time with her family, gardening, camping, and reading.
 

Biography

Ryan McMurray serves as a Paralegal for Flynn Law Group.  Ryan has extensive experience in insurance defense, and is knowledgeable in all aspects of the claim process, from claim initiation to superior court litigation. He prides himself on his superior organizational abilities, efficiency, and dedication to providing prompt and accurate support.  Ryan earned his Paralegal Certificate through the American Bar Association approved program at Edmonds Community College. 

Outside the office, Ryan is an avid hiker and enjoys the outdoors of the Pacific Northwest in all seasons.  He is also active in the community and enjoys giving his time through volunteering.

Joseph W. Williams


Biography

Joe Williams relocated to the Pacific Northwest from Texas in May of 2016 after earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Texas State University.  His previous experience includes criminal defense legal support work, where Joe employed his strong research and analytical skills to assist with deciding what course of action to take for clients.  As Legal Assistant for Flynn Law Group, Joe provides all aspects of clerical and legal assistance. 

In his free time, Joe enjoys going to baseball games, playing video games, or just going for a walk.  He has two cats, named Steve and Loretta, and a dog named Meatdog.
